posted 04.18.2016
For professionals in the field of aging, online courses can be an engaging and convenient way to learn new information and brush up on old skills. And the summertime is a great time to enroll in one of the online courses offered by ASA and the USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology. Because you can take the courses on a computer or mobile device it is easy and practical to continue your professional learning anywhere, any time.

About our partnership with USC

The content for these courses was developed and is presented by the expert faculty of USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology. USC’s renowned gerontology program was the first in the world to offer a PhD in Gerontology and the school is a leader in online education. The Leonard Davis School and their nationally renowned faculty are committed to improving the quality of life for older persons through research and education, making a partnership with ASA and our members a perfect opportunity to reach our shared objectives.

About the courses

ASA and USC have worked to design courses that meet the needs of busy, working professionals in the field of aging. The course content covers essential issues that impact the quality of life for older adults and help students gain insight into the needs of this growing population.

We are excited to be able to offer both of the following courses twice over the summer!

The content of Fundamentals of Gerontology is intended to help professionals bring theory and practice together to gain a broader understanding of gerontology. Throughout the five week course, USC's expert faculty will guide students through the foundations of the field including demography, sociological theories of aging, psychological perspectives of aging, aging policy and more.

Many older adults face a myriad of health issues that can impact their mobility, happiness, relationships and overall quality of life. Health and Wellness in an Aging Society is designed to help prepare professionals to offer care and support to older adults with various health challenges and their caregivers. The course covers issues such as chronic diseases, dementia, medication managements and more.
