Professionals serving multicultural communities will be at the 2012 Aging in America conference to present the most current research, replicable programs, and best practices concerning multicultural aging. Over the course of the conference, attendees will have sessions to choose from that address barriers to services, linguistic access, census data and health disparities.

This peer group will discuss the situations providers face in offering appropriate and relevant services to multicultural populations. Participants will share challenges, strategies, opportunities and best practices for providing practical, effective service-delivery systems. More info.

The Impact of Demographic Changes on Elders of Color

This program will present a panel of experts to respond to questions about the social dilemmas that arise related to service provision, workforce concerns, and health care delivery from a policy standpoint as they pertain to the demographic changes reflected in the 2010 US Census. This program will encompass three workshops with the overarching mission to critically examine the assumptions of aging, social and health policies - rendered to impact older adults equally - in fact, affect older adults differently when examined through the lens of race, class and gender.
