The AoA-MOWAA (Administration on Aging-Meals On Wheels Association of America) National Resource Center on Nutrition and Aging invites you to celebrate, imagine and build the future of senior nutrition in America at Perspectives on Nutrition and Aging: A National Summit, to be held, at the Gaylord National Harbor Hotel, near Washington, DC on August 23, 2012.

The officially sanctioned celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Older Americans Act Nutrition Program, this Summit is a unique opportunity to explore the challenges and opportunities of the next 40 years and to prepare for the far-reaching health, economic and social consequences that will determine the future of senior nutrition services.

The registration fee for the Summit is $50, which includes all materials, a luncheon with keynote speaker Dr. David L. Katz, and admission to all Summit sessions. On April 16, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius announced a major reorganization of the federal programs on aging and disability with the creation of the new Administration for Community Living (ACL), bringing together the Administration on Aging, the Office on Disability and the Administration on Developmental Disabilities into a single agency that supports both cross-cutting initiatives and efforts focused on the unique needs of individual groups, such as children with developmental disabilities or seniors with dementia. This new agency will seek to enhance and improve the range of support that individuals may need to live with respect and dignity as members of their communities. These needs include the availability of appropriate housing, employment, education, meaningful relationships and social participation." Assistant Secretary for Aging Kathy Greenlee will serve in a dual role that includes her current position as well as the Administrator of new ACL.
