Volunteer Organizations
Volunteer organizations play a significant role in providing driver education and transportation alternatives. AARP was one of the first organizations to use volunteers as peer instructors for driving-refresher courses. Instructors of the "55 Alive" course have trained thousands of experienced drivers over the past 20 years.
Volunteer drivers hold down the costs of transportation programs, such as the Passport Program developed by the Beverly Foundation (www.beverlyfoundation.org) .
