Community Colleges and Universities
A number of community colleges and universities sponsor older-adult education opportunities either through special classes for the older learner or courses open to all ages that anyone can take without receiving graduation credits. Many educational institutions want to be responsive to the local community and welcome involvement in creating courses or offering special seminars for older adults, such as the Elderhostel program (www.elderhostel.org).
Some community colleges have sponsored courses that touch on the topic of physical and psychological changes as we age. Such a course could incorporate the topic of driving in discussions about adaptation and function. Other schools have specifically sponsored driving-refresher courses.
