Developing leadership is vital to the aging community since the well-being of people at all life stages involves their interaction with groups—from family to government to the whole human community.
On Jan. 1 2011, an article in The New York Times announced the coming of age of the oldest Baby Boomers who, over the next two decades, will be a cohort of 79 million looking to the industry for care and services. Many were children of the ’60s who crusaded for peace and love, and launched a cultural and sexual revolution. We now look with interest to the next step in their sexual evolution—their search for rights and sexual happiness as they make their way onto the healthcare scene.
At a recent business reception I struck up a conversation with an attendee. When we exchanged cards, I discovered I had been talking to a Vice President of Thought Leadership for a major corporation. The title is interesting to contemplate—it makes one wonder if the man is in charge of all corporate thinking—but increasingly the business world has embraced the thought leadership concept and is using its thought leaders to help enhance brands and influence the purchase of products and services.
It seems like only yesterday we were debating whether or not older adults would use email and the Internet. New research shows that Americans ages 65 and older are online and engaged.
For the first time, more than half of people ages 65 and older are online, according to the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project. While the aging of the baby boomers has a significant impact on that growth, it’s more than just the boomer effect.
This conference features a keynote speaker, 24 concurrent sessions on topics related to healthy aging, caregiving, dementia, & much more.
This conference, targeting caregivers, professionals in the field of aging, and older adults covers a variety of areas including dementia, latest developments in the field, caregiving, healthy aging, and more. Over 400 people converge on the college annually for the event to network and learn more about aging, the changing face of aging, and resources available.
