Our April 18 Greater Washington Roundtable program will feature a presentation by Bob Stein, President & CEO of the American Society on Aging. This collaborative, two-year project of the Frameworks Institute in Washington, DC, ASA and seven other aging organizations [*], reaffirmed that as Americans live longer and healthier lives, it's essential that society adjust both its attitudes toward aging and its systems that support and shape wellbeing in later life.  

Understanding this, ASA partnered with seven peer organizations, nine forward-thinking funders [**], and the FrameWorks Institute [***] to figure out how to reframe aging. The findings and recommendations are now available to the field in a new toolkit, Gaining Momentum.  Bob will share the results and describe how to start working with Gaining Momentum Toolkit, which is available without cost to the field, thanks to the financial support of our nine funders. In our youth-obsessed culture, aging is primarily understood as a personal fate to avoid, not a social issue that demands a public response. The Toolkit, training videos and web seminars have been designed to help advocates, like you, change the conversation on aging, trigger public thinking towards sparking dialogue, shift perceptions, and build support for necessary policy changes.
