The CNYGEC offers specialized training in geriatrics and geriatric mental health is essential to meet the health care and educational demands of the growing population of elders.  It is also important that the current and future workforce understand the diversity of the older population (e.g., ethnicity, race, geography, income, language ability) and be prepared to work on interprofessional teams in a range of clinical settings (e.g., nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospitals).
