The story of the long-time survival of people living with HIV is a story of resilience, advocacy and science, and is a triumph of human achievement. But it also means that many HIV survivors are growing older, a prospect they did not think possible. Today, more than half of those living with HIV are older than age 50. In ten years, that number will grow to 75 percent, yet the HIV and aging service systems do not effectively work together to provide the services these survivors need as they age. Over the past year, leaders of 40 national HIV and aging organizations have come together to create a framework for the work that needs to be done improve this situation. The speakers will discuss medical, social service and policy recommendations to lead us forward.

Participants of this webinar will learn:

• A bit of the history around HIV treatment and advocacy that led to longer life spans;
• What it means to age with HIV with current treatments and prospects for older age; 
• Why it often feels as if the aging and HIV services systems are working at cross purposes; 
• A framework for how to improve collaboration between the sectors to more effectively serve those aging with HIV; and
• Policy recommendations going forward for aiding those who are aging with HIV.

Presenters:

	Aaron Tax is the Director of Advocacy at SAGE, the largest and oldest organization in the country dedicated to improving the lives of LGBT older people.
	Dr. Maile Karris is an Associate Professor who is a physician researcher at the University of California San Diego. Her research focuses on improving understanding of and developing interventions to mitigate the psychosocial factors that adversely impact Aging with HIV.
	Jesse Milan Jr, is President & CEO of AIDS United, a national organization focused on ending the HIV epidemic in the U.S. through strategic grantmaking, capacity building and policy and advocacy.  A lawyer, Mr. Milan has received numerous awards for his HIV work, he’s addressed millions on global and national levels, and has been living with HIV for over three decades.
	John Feather, PhD, is Chief Executive Officer of Grantmakers In Aging, the national association of grantmaking foundations and other organizations that work to improve the lives of older people. Dr. Feather is Past Chair of the Board of Directors of the American Society on Aging and a former officer or Board member of 15 other national non-profit organizations. He received the ASA Award from the American Society on Aging for his work in policy, practice and education, and was elected a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America. He was selected as one of the “50 Influencers in Aging” by Next Avenue, PBS’ national information source on aging, and received the Ophelia Rinaldi Lifetime Achievement Award from National Hispanic Council on Aging and was elected to the National Academy of Social Insurance.
