Area of focus: Building economic stability

Housing was the single most frequently cited policy priority in ASA’s 2026 Community Survey — mentioned 177 times. That’s not surprising: housing is where aging policy, economic security, community design, and equity collide. This group — born from the Equity & Justice Advisory Council’s own focus — explores what equitable, stable housing looks like for older adults. It brings together people working on affordability, accessibility, homelessness prevention, and community-based housing models who are working on different pieces of the same problem. 

Questions this group might explore: 

What housing models are working for older adults with low or moderate incomes — and why aren’t they scaling? 

How do housing developers and aging services organizations coordinate when they’re not used to working together? 

What does homelessness prevention look like for older adults before a crisis hits? 

How do race, geography, and income shape housing options as people age?
