Summits at On Aging 2027
New to On Aging, ASA curated summits are working convenings assembled with leaders in the field around specific key issues in aging and beyond. A summit is not just a presentation, it’s an opportunity to lead the conversation, develop innovative strategies to solve urgent and big problems, and make the cross-sector connections that can only happen at On Aging. Organizations and leaders bring their expertise, their gaps in understanding, and questions. Participants bring what they know, test what the partners have drafted, and add to it. The day ends with commitments: what organizations will do together, what needs to be learned, what needs to be built, and what needs to change. We aim to create working groups and partnerships that will continue the dialogue and the work after the conference.

STARTS AT 2:30 PM ASA Summit: Creating Community
As people live longer and communities grow more diverse, the places we live have to work for everyone, across a lifetime. Housing, transportation, public space, social connection, technology, and community services each shape whether a person can belong and participate in society, and they rarely plan together. This Summit focuses on how better cross sector planning and collaboration can eliminate barriers.

STARTS AT 10:00 AM ASA Summit: Advancing Economic Security
Financial stability as we age is shaped by circumstances throughout life: work, savings, the cost of care and healthcare, the benefits a person can reach, and the income and wealth gaps that follow race, geography, and identity. Our current economic system is failing to set up our aging population for financial fulfillment and sustainability. In this Summit, we will bring together organizations leading these economic conversations, both at the systemic and individual level, and begin to create ideas and conversations around new pathways for economic success.

STARTS AT 9:30 AM ASA Summit: The Policy Environment Needed to Develop the Aging Workforce
A longer-lived society needs a workforce to match: aging services professionals, healthcare and direct care workers, family caregivers, and the older workers whose skills and experience the workforce needs. Our current policy environment has failed to create the structures needed to produce and maintain this multifaceted workforce. During this Summit, we will identify potential policy solutions that will create the aging workforce that America requires. Current policy and frontline leaders will offer perspective and insight into solutions.

STARTS AT 2:30 PM ASA Summit: Bootcamp on AI Usage for Aging Organizations
Across the country, aging organizations make up the frontline of service and support for older adults. In a time with palpable funding constraints and limited capacity, there’s a potential role for AI to help organizations amplify their impact with more limited capacity. The AI Bootcamp will feature voices from organizations leading and experimenting with AI. This bootcamp will have opportunities for applications embedded within the session. This will feel like an active workshop for participants. This conversation will be grounded in ethical AI usage and help participants think about using AI to better serve communities.
