HIV and Aging

Area of focus: Health and wellbeing 

Thanks to advances in treatment, more people are living into older age with HIV than ever before. But the care systems, community supports, and professional knowledge base haven’t kept pace. This group brings together people working at the intersection of HIV and aging — service providers, advocates, researchers, and people with lived experience — to explore what it takes to support people aging with HIV across the full spectrum of their needs. It builds on ASA’s existing work in this area, including the Still Here, Still Aging toolkit developed in partnership with Ribbon. 

Questions this group might explore: 

How are aging services organizations building capacity to serve people aging with HIV? 

What do we know about the accelerated aging effects of long-term HIV, and how should services adapt? 

How do stigma, isolation, and intersecting identities shape the experience of aging with HIV? 

What models of integrated care are working — and for whom?
