AI and the Field of Aging

Area of focus: Expanding access

Artificial intelligence is arriving in aging services whether the field is ready or not. In ASA’s Community Survey, nearly 200 respondents expressed interest in learning about AI’s impact on the field — from care coordination and fraud prevention to educating older adults about AI tools. This group is for aging professionals who want to understand what’s coming, think critically about what should be adopted and what should be questioned, and shape how these tools are used in the communities they serve.

Questions this group might explore:

What AI tools are already being used in aging services, and what are practitioners learning?

How do we evaluate AI tools for bias, accessibility, and appropriateness for older adult populations?

What does responsible adoption look like for organizations with limited technical capacity?

Where is AI creating new access — and where is it creating new barriers?
