Growing the Careforce

Area focus: Strengthening care and caregiving

The care workforce is being reinvented. Paid family caregivers, direct care professionals, career pathways for younger workers entering aging services, volunteer-based care models — new approaches are emerging across the country, often in isolation from each other. In ASA’s Community Survey, caregiving and workforce were among the most frequently cited policy priorities. This group brings together people who are building new approaches and asks what it takes to make them sustainable, replicable, and grounded in the communities they serve.

Questions this group might explore:

What career pathways are bringing new people into caregiving and aging services — and what’s making them stay?

How are paid family caregiver models evolving, and what’s working across different communities?

What role should technology play in supporting — not replacing — the care workforce?

How do we build care infrastructure that reflects the communities it serves?
