PhRMA is hosting this event to provide an overview of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) for ASA members. Signed into law on Aug. 16, 2022, this legislation seeks to lower prescription drug costs by allowing Medicare to negotiate prices with drug companies, places an inflation cap on drug prices, and lowers out-of-pocket expenses for Medicare recipients.  It also extends ACA subsidies for 3 years. However, despite some aspects of the Act that will help a few older adults, the legislation will lead to fewer new treatments and doesn’t do nearly enough to address the real affordability problems facing patients at the pharmacy. Hear from two leaders in health policy from the National Hispanic Council on Aging (NHCA) and the National Health Council (NHC) describe their thoughts about the legislation and the impact on the patient populations they represent.
