Falls are a leading cause of injury in older adults, and the fear of falling can significantly impact health and independence. This webinar will explore the risks and consequences of falls, the effect of fear of falling on mobility and well-being, and practical strategies for fall prevention. Participants will learn how to help older adults stay safe, maintain confidence, and preserve their independence, while also gaining insights from the latest research findings on effective fall prevention strategies.

Participants in this webinar will be able to:

  • Identify the key risk factors for falls among older adults and understand the physical, psychological and emotional impacts of falls.
  • Recognize the prevalence and impact of fear of falling and how it contributes to reduced activity, increased fall risk, and loss of independence in older adults.
  • Apply effective fall prevention strategies, including exercise programs, home safety modifications, medication reviews, and PERS technology to reduce fall risks, improve overall safety, and build confidence.
  • Effectively communicate with older adults about fall prevention, using supportive approaches to empower them to take action and maintain their safety and independence.
