Description:

Women face significant challenges in healthcare access, income security and social support in later life. These challenges and disparities may be compounded by other barriers related to race and socioeconomic status.

This session will address the unique experiences of older women and explore strategies to address their needs when it comes to aging services. We’ll also discuss the role of community-based organizations (CBOs) and Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) in advancing equity through partnerships, advocacy and innovative support services. Attendees will leave with actionable insights to help strengthen healthcare access, income support, and social networks for older women.

Participants in this webinar will be able to:

  • Recognize the challenges facing older women in healthcare access, income security, and social services.
  • Examine the intersection of gender, race and age to understand how these factors contribute to these challenges.
  • Identify actionable strategies to address challenges for older women through policy change and community support initiatives.
  • Explore best practices for partnering with CBOs and AAAs to improve healthcare access, economic stability and social supports for older women.
  • Develop approaches to advocacy and service delivery that address the unique needs of older women.
