This web seminar will provide an overview of domestic violence and how it presents in the older adult and LGBTQ+ communities, and the dynamics of abuse in the older adult LGBTQ+ community. This web seminar will equip participants with a foundational understanding of trauma, and how the symptoms of trauma present in the LGBTQ+ older adult community across the lifespan from a trauma-informed framework.

Participants in this web seminar will be able to:

• Define Intimate Partner Violence in Later Life;
• Identify abuse tactics used in LGBTQ+ relationships;
• Describe how trauma presents in and affects the LGBTQ+ older adult community; and,
• Identify best practices for working with LGBTQ+ survivors of IPVILL.

Presenter:

Jessa Winas, M.S.W., is leads the Intimate Partner Violence in Later Life initiatives at the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Winas has more than 10 years of experience, working at local and state levels providing direct service and resource development.
