As never before, COVID-19 starkly demonstrates that health and prevention happen in the community. Organizations with close ties to vulnerable populations, at the neighborhood level, have an opportunity to prove the value of social health interventions to health care partners. This web seminar will explore real-world examples of contracts between community-based organizations and health care entities that are responsive to the current crisis and true to the adaptability of the aging network.
Participants in this web seminar will be able to:
- Understand the potential motivations of health care entities to contract with community organizations in the face of a global crisis.
- Describe the adaptation of existing services and partners to marketable social health intervention arrays.”
- Leverage existing partners and networks to deliver an emergency response and ongoing service to health care partners.”
Presenters:
James Stowe is a gerontologist focused on developing the systems, technology, and community relationships that secure the health and well-being of vulnerable populations. He received a BA and MS from Kansas State University, as well as a PhD in Human Environmental Sciences from the University of Missouri.
Jennifer Raymond is the Chief Strategy Officer for Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley and North Shore, an Area Agency on Aging in Massachusetts serving more than 40,000 older adults and adults with disabilities, where she focuses on community/health care integration. She is also a founder and director of the Massachusetts Healthy Living Center of Excellence, the Massachusetts statewide network for delivery of and contracting for evidence-based health promotion and disease prevention programs.
